The Washington Township Food Pantry was established in 1985 when LVPC was worshiping on West Mill Road. Food was collected in a laundry basket and delivered to people in need. How we have grown!
When LVPC moved into its new facility on Bartley Road in 1987 so did the the Food Pantry. At first, the Food Pantry was housed in a room downstairs, but as the need has continued to grow so has the need for storage space. The Food Pantry now uses other areas of the church facility during the holiday seasons when the need is greatest.
Volunteers work weekly to shelve food contributions and shop for fresh produce, meat, poultry and eggs to supplement canned items. Currently, approximately 1500 bags of groceries are given out yearly.
All of this is accomplished from donations of cash, food drives and parishioner donations.
For information on current needs, visit the Long Valley Community Assistance Program (LVCAP) website. The Donation tab will provide information regarding the latest Food Pantry needs as well as donation drop off days and times.
